Start by measuring the space where your furniture will sit, then compare it with the dimensions on the product page:
- Width (W): the measurement from side to side.
- Depth (D): the measurement from front to back.
- Height (H): the measurement from the floor to the top.
Marking the footprint on the floor with masking tape can help you picture how much space the piece will occupy. Allow room for drawers and doors to open, nearby sockets, skirting boards and comfortable movement around it.
For bedside tables, compare the table’s height with the top of your mattress. A similar height usually makes everyday items easier to reach. If you’re buying a pair, measure each side of the bed separately.
Finally, check that the furniture—and its packaging—can pass through your doorways, hallways and stairs.
Assembly requirements vary by product. Many of our G R A I N real wood pieces arrive with the main body assembled and only the legs to attach. Some products arrive fully assembled, while others require more assembly.
Check the individual product page for the assembly requirements before ordering. “Legs to attach” means some assembly is required.
Our photographs show the design and finish you can expect. As wood is a natural material, each piece has its own unique grain, with minor variations in colour and knots.
Pieces of the same design will have a consistent overall look, but won’t be completely identical—even when ordered together as a pair. These subtle differences are part of the natural character of real wood.
A little regular care will help preserve the wood and its finish.
- Dust gently: use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For marks, use a slightly damp cloth and dry the surface straight away. Avoid soaking the wood.
- Wipe up spills promptly: standing water, alcohol and other liquids can stain or damage the finish.
- Protect the surface: use coasters, placemats and heat-resistant mats beneath drinks and hot items. Put felt pads beneath decorative objects and lift items rather than dragging them.
- Avoid harsh cleaning products: abrasive cleaners, solvents, bleach and silicone-based sprays may damage the finish.
- Keep conditions steady: position furniture away from radiators, fireplaces and prolonged direct sunlight. Changes in heat and humidity can cause natural wood to expand or contract.
- Use polish sparingly: follow any care instructions supplied with your furniture. Oils, waxes and polishes are not suitable for every finish, so don’t apply them unless recommended for your particular piece.
- Move carefully: lift furniture by its main body rather than its top, drawers or legs, and avoid dragging it across the floor.
Wood may gradually change in tone as it ages. This is a natural part of its character. Always follow the product-specific care instructions where provided.
